FAQ

How is this different from a to-do app?
A to-do app waits for you to be disciplined. Just This intercepts you at the exact moment discipline fails — when your thumb is already reaching for the feed. It acts on the impulse, not the plan.
Does it actually block apps?
Yes. Just This uses Apple's official Screen Time API (FamilyControls / ManagedSettings / DeviceActivity) to block the apps you choose for the length of a session. In hard mode they're fully sealed — no escape.
What's the difference between soft and hard mode?
Soft mode is a friction shield: it shows your intention, asks if you really want the feed, and leaves a 5-minute escape door. Hard mode removes the door entirely — the apps stay blocked until the timer ends. You choose per session.
Can I get around my own block?
In soft mode, yes — that's the point, with friction. In hard mode there is no in-app bypass. The only "out" is whatever iOS itself allows, which we deliberately don't make easy.
Do you see my data?
No. There's no account and no server. Your blocked apps, intentions and stats never leave your iPhone. See the privacy page for the full version.
Are there streaks, points, or notifications?
None. No streaks to protect, no points to chase, no notifications pulling you back. Those are feed mechanics, and this is the opposite of a feed.
Which apps can I block?
Any apps you select through the system picker — TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, Reddit, and anything else you consider a feed. You decide; we just enforce it.
Why does it need Screen Time permission?
That's the only Apple-sanctioned way to block apps on iOS. The permission lets Just This silence your chosen apps during a session — and nothing more. It cannot read what's inside them.
Is it free?
Pricing is announced at launch. Whatever the model, it will never be ads or selling data — that would contradict the entire premise of the app.
Android?
iOS first. Android depends on platform APIs that work differently; if it happens, it'll be done properly or not at all.
